my approach

I approach each client relationship individually and, depending on the issue you wish to work on, may also incorporate
activities such as mindfulness, breathwork, visualisation and creative exercises. Encouragement to focus on self-care
and self-compassion forms an important part of my approach, and together we will work out what you need to feel happier, more
fulfilled and secure.

Our sessions will also take into account your past experience and how this can impact on the present, as well as an understanding that very difficult feelings can be repressed by our conscious minds when they are too painful for us to  process. These buried or unconscious feelings, however, can still drive our behaviour, leading to a sense that we are not really in control of our lives or are caught up in repeated patterns of behaviour.  Drawing on this foundation will help you to develop greater self-awareness, a key part of the therapeutic process.

On completing counselling, clients report that they feel they know themselves better, for example, and that the sessions have enabled them to 'think about things in a different way' which has led to change. They may describe feeling less anxious, 'freed up', or say that they have 'found their voice', that relationships are less fraught, that they are kinder to themselves, and can approach life with a greater sense of possibility and inner confidence.
